Who You’ll Join
A fast-growing AI startup backed by top-tier Bay Area VCs, where you’ll be employee #3 reporting to the CTO. The team of two has built a working document processing pipeline (Next.js, FastAPI, serverless orchestration, OCR/LLMs) automating tax workflows for CPA firms.

What You’ll Drive
You’ll own the technical direction of an ML-powered document processing engine, scaling infrastructure and refining OCR/LLM orchestration to extract structured data from millions of complex financial documents.

What You’ll Focus On

• Scale document processing: Optimize OCR (Textract) + LLM workflows for speed/accuracy in handling tax forms and financial reports.
• Own full-stack development: Lead architecture decisions for the Next.js frontend (document uploads) and FastAPI backend (async pipelines).
• Improve AI performance: Experiment with layout models and LLMs to solve edge cases in PDF parsing.
• Build reliability: Replace brittle systems with robust async workflows using Redis/Kafka.
• Shape technical culture: Establish engineering practices as the first technical hire post-founders.

• 3+ years full-stack experience with Next.js + Python (FastAPI preferred), having built systems 0→1.
• Fintech/doc-heavy domain expert: Experience with tax workflows, legal documents, or financial data extraction.
• Serverless pro: Hands-on with Lambda/Modal and async processing (Celery/Redis).
• OCR/LLM practitioner: Production experience with Textract, Document AI, or GPT-style models.
• Debugging guru: Solved edge cases like multi-column PDF layouts or handwritten form parsing.
• Product-minded builder: Balances technical rigor with CPA user needs in highly regulated domains.

• Ownership: Equity stake (1%) and autonomy to shape architecture as employee #3.
