Position: SAS DB2 Specialist

Background: 
Kyndryl are seeking a highly skilled and experienced DB2 Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in DB2 LUW (Linux, Unix, Windows) database administration, architecture, and performance tuning. This role involves managing large-scale databases, ensuring high availability, and supporting critical business applications. The candidate will also be responsible for database migrations, upgrades, and disaster recovery planning, while leveraging their deep knowledge of DB2 environments, ETL tools, and automation. Additionally, experience with SAS integration and the ability to analyze and resolve performance bottlenecks are essential.
 
Qualifications:

• Extensive experience with DB2 LUW (v9.1, v9.5, v9.7, v10.5, and 11.5) in both OLTP and OLAP environments.
• Expertise in ESE and DPF (clustering)
• Strong knowledge of data warehousing, data modeling, and design.
• Proficiency in ETL tools such as AbInitio, Informatica, DataStage, and SAS.
• Hands-on experience with HADR, pureScale, and disaster recovery planning.
• Advanced skills in performance tuning and capacity planning for very large databases.
• Ability to identify and resolve bottlenecks in database performance and system resources.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Shell, Perl, Ant) and automation tools (e.g., Autosys, Zeke scheduler).
• Familiarity with Tivoli Storage Management (TSM) and other backup/recovery tools.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP, UDP, IP, HTTP, FTP, SMTP, DRDA).
• Experience with multi-tier web-based architectures (WebSphere, JBoss, WebLogic).
• Knowledge of ITIL frameworks and software development life cycle (SDLC) processes.
• Proficiency in PL/SQL, C, C++, Java, and other programming languages.
• Experience with database migration tools like IBM Migration Toolkit.
• IBM Certified DB2 UDB DBA. (Preferred)
• Experience with large-scale enterprise data warehouses (40TB+).(Preferred)
• Familiarity with query optimization tools (Query Patroller, Performance Expert). (Preferred)
• Knowledge of SAP Basis and integration with DB2. (Preferred)
• Experience in anti-money laundering (AML) and financial systems. (Preferred)
• Experience with SAS integration for analytics and reporting. (Preferred)

 
 
 
Responsibilities could entail: 

• Perform logical and physical database administration for DB2 LUW environments.
• Manage database migrations across platforms (e.g., AIX to Linux) and versions (e.g., DB2 9.7 to 11.5).
• Implement and maintain DB2 native encryption for secure data storage.
• Conduct performance tuning and monitoring using tools like DSM, db2top, snapshots, mon_get functions, and SAS integration.
• Analyze and resolve bottlenecks in database performance, queries, and system resources.
• Develop and maintain stored procedures, triggers, and functions for business applications.
• Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and fixpacks on Unix and Windows platforms.
• Design and implement disaster recovery solutions, including HADR, pureScale, and replication.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support for production environments, troubleshooting issues such as deadlocks, instance crashes, and tablespace management.
• Collaborate with development teams to design and optimize data models and database architectures.
• Support ETL processes using tools like AbInitio, Informatica, DataStage, and SAS.
• Automate database monitoring and maintenance tasks using Shell, Perl, and Ant scripting.
• Ensure compliance with ITIL frameworks for incident, change, and problem management.
• Work with IBM support to resolve complex DB2 issues and PMRs.
