A small, remote school in the heart of the Simpson Desert is excited to welcome a Transition to Year 2 teacher for 2025! This close-knit school community fosters strong connections among educators, students, families, and local community members. With around 30 students in total, the class size is approximately 12, allowing for personalised teaching and meaningful engagement. In addition to using the NT EAL/D Learning Progressions to plan, monitor and assess student progress in English, the school integrates Read Write Inc. (RWI) as part of its literacy program and has recently adopted the Learning Through Doing approach to enhance the delivery of mathematics. In 2024, the school began a Two-Way Science Project in partnership with the local council, a collaboration that will continue into 2025. This initiative is supported by three local Anangu educators in each class to create engaging and culturally meaningful learning experiences.
Located 240km from Alice Springs in the stunning Simpson Desert, the area offers opportunities to explore its breathtaking landscapes. Highlights include the iconic Dalhousie Springs and the Finke Gorge National Park, known for its dramatic rock formations and rare palm trees. The annual Finke Desert Race, a thrilling off-road motorbike and car event, attracts adventurers from around the world. The region also provides numerous opportunities for 4WD expeditions, wildlife spotting, camping, and stargazing. The tranquil environment and rugged terrain offer moments of peace and adventure, perfect for those who love the outdoors.
