The opportunity:
This position is responsible for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all visitors, staff, and stakeholders through the provision of first aid, incident response, mountain safety programs, and risk management initiatives. In addition to leading incident response and coordinating patrol activities, the Ski Patrol Supervisor fosters a culture of safety, teamwork, and professionalism within the Ski Patrol team. The role requires strong collaboration with internal resort teams and external agencies, effective communication, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service and compliance.
- Coordinate daily Ski Patrol operations, including morning briefings, assignment of patrol duties, and monitoring ski area risk management.
- Supervise Ski Patrollers and volunteers, providing guidance, training, and feedback to ensure safe and effective delivery of patrol services.
- Lead incident response and first aid delivery, taking charge at accident scenes, organising resources, and ensuring accurate documentation and reporting.
- Promote and deliver Mountain Awareness programs, educating visitors and staff on safe practices and hazard identification.
- Maintain and deploy safety equipment, ensuring all Ski Patrol vehicles, utilities, and supplies are in proper working order.
- Develop and administer discrete areas of Ski Patrol operations, such as volunteer recruitment, training, avalanche and rescue programs, and database management, as delegated by the Manager.
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Resort Operations, Medical Centre) and external agencies (e.g., Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria) to ensure coordinated emergency response and statutory compliance.
- Contribute to patrol training and development, supporting continuous improvement and capability building within the team.
This is an on-site seasonal role at Falls Creek Alpine Resort where you will get to enjoy spectacular views and the unique alpine environment every day, including the challenges this brings.
Key Selection Criteria - ASPA Advanced Emergency Care or equivalent.
- National Ski Patroller accreditation.
- Minimum 6 years Ski Patrol experience in an Australian ski resort.
- Current Victorian driver’s licence.
- Current Victorian Employee Working with Children’s Check (WWCC).
- Prior experience in customer service, tourism, or visitor information.
- Desirable: Rope rescue, avalanche qualifications, search and rescue experience, Train the Trainer qualifications.
The successful candidate will be required to: - Have full Australian working rights.
- Currently hold or be willing to obtain a Victorian Working with Children Check – Employee type
- Satisfactorily pass a police check and random drug & alcohol tests.
Location: Falls Creek Alpine Resort, Victoria
Salary Range: $45.19 per hour, plus casual loading + superannuation
Contract Term: Casual, seasonal.
