As a Rapid Response Support Worker, you’ll step in where you’re needed most – providing essential care and support to people in their own homes. This is a varied and fast-paced role that will see you working across different situations and care needs. You’ll work relief shifts and receive extra earnings on weekends, all while supporting people in your community to live their best lives. If you’re reliable, compassionate, and confident in your skills, this is your opportunity to be part of something meaningful.
You will provide safe, respectful, and person‑centred support in people’s homes, being mindful of what matters to them, including their culture, values, beliefs, routines, and boundaries.
Each Tangata will have high risk individual care requirements, and you will support them with all elements of daily living such as:
- Palliative cares
- Bowel cares
- Dementia
- Mental health
- Medication
Whakangungu | Training We provide practical and online training during the first few weeks of employment. With the added bonus of year-round training with regular refreshers and new modules to keep skills up to date. You’ll be supported through structured induction, ongoing training, refreshers, and clear development pathways.
Mōhou Ake | About You The following skills and experience may be required depending on the specific client needs you are matched to
- Hold a Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification or have equivalent, relevant experience
- Spinal injury experience
- Stoma Management experience
- Experienced in the use of a full, standing and two-person hoist
- Experience administering prescribed medication
- Be willing to learn, reflect, and adapt your approach to what matters for each person
- Have experience in or exposure to caregiving, disability support, aged care, community work, or other people‑facing roles
- Committed to culturally safe, respectful support for people from all backgrounds
- Love working with people and helping them thrive
- Intuitive and responsive to people’s needs
- Own a smartphone
- Have the right to work in New Zealand
- Full/restricted driver’s license

Some client needs require Support Workers who hold a Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification to ensure safe and appropriate care. We support equitable recruitment by recognising transferable experience and, where appropriate, providing training pathways to build and maintain Level 3–4 capability. Support Workers are matched to client needs based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
