As a Support Worker Team Leader, you’ll play a key role in guiding and supporting a team of Support Workers | Kaiāwhina to deliver high-quality, person-centred care in the community. You’ll combine leadership, coaching, and coordination with direct support work — ensuring our clients | tāngata receive the best possible care.
You’ll work closely with care coordination and clinical teams, supporting your team to deliver services aligned with individual support plans while promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing.

He kōrero whakamārama mō tēnei tūranga | About the role

• Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching and support to a team of Support Workers
• Ensure high-quality care is delivered in line with support plans and organisational standards
• Support onboarding, training and development of new and existing staff | kaimahi
• Work alongside your team in the community, delivering hands-on care when needed  
• Build strong relationships with clients, families, and internal teams
• Monitor performance, provide feedback, and support continuous improvement
• Act as a key link between Support Workers, coordinators, and clinical teams
• Promote a safe, culturally responsive, and supportive working environment

Whakangungu | Training
We’ll support you with:

 Mōhou Ake | About You

• Previous experience as a Support Worker (or similar role) advantageous
• Experience within the healthcare sector essential
• Confident supporting, mentoring, or leading others
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Able to balance hands-on care with leadership responsibilities
• Organised, proactive, and solutions-focused
• Committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care
• Able to travel across the Canterbury region; mileage reimbursement provided.
• Right to work in New Zealand
