Are you an experienced Registered Nurse looking to step into a leadership role that makes a real impact in community healthcare? We’re seeking a dynamic Associate Clinical Nurse Manager (ACNM) to join our District Nursing team in Canterbury. This newly created role offers an opportunity to blend clinical leadership and operational leadership and provide input in to shaping nursing services across Canterbury.

He kōrero whakamārama mō tēnei tūranga | About the role  
As our ACNM, you’ll play a key part in supporting the Regional Clinical Nurse Manager to provide effective clinical leadership, coordination, and day‑to‑day operational oversight of our district nursing service.
You will also maintain a small clinical caseload and participate in the after‑hours/weekend roster as required.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership

• Provide daily clinical oversight and act as a role model for safe, evidence‑based practice.
• Support clinical decision‑making and act as an escalation point for complex issues.
• Deliver education, training, and support for professional development.
• Contribute to policy development and quality audits.

Operational Management

• Coordinate staffing, rostering, and resource allocation to meet service needs.
• Ensure high‑standard documentation and oversee audit processes.
• Identify opportunities for service improvements and new revenue streams.
• Participate in the on‑call roster and maintain incident reporting processes.

People Leadership

• Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance support to staff .
• Support recruitment, induction, orientation, and workforce development.
• Foster a positive and inclusive team culture.

Quality & Safety

• Promote safe, culturally responsive practice aligned with sector standards and Te Tiriti o Waitangi .
• Support quality improvement initiatives and audit activities. 

Mōhou Ake | About You – Qualifications & Experience
Essential:

• Registered Nurse with a current NZ Annual Practising Certificate
• 3–5 years relevant clinical experience
• Proven leadership capability
• Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and commitment to health equity
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills

Desirable:

• Postgraduate study (completed or in progress)
• Experience in staff coordination, rostering, or shift leadership
• Experience with data‑informed decision‑making
• Involvement in quality improvement or service development
• Experience working with union partners
