Tenjo is taking Japanese dining to the rooftop of The EVE Hotel in Wunderlich Lane, Redfern, this November.

Our 100-seat izakaya sits beneath a retractable glass roof, with guests watching the kitchen at work from the sushi counter or settling in for dinner with friends. The menu brings traditional Japanese techniques together with Australian produce, spanning sushi and sashimi, yakitori, tempura and donabe rice cooked to order.

We’re looking for casual Chef de Parties, Commis Chefs and Cooks to help bring it all to life.

The roles
We’re hiring across our sushi bar and hot kitchen. You’ll:

• Work with our senior chefs on preparation and service
• Deliver consistent food with care and attention to detail
• Help establish your section and kitchen routines ahead of opening
• Keep an organised workspace and support your teammates

What you’ll bring

• Commercial kitchen experience suited to your level
• An interest in Japanese cooking and a willingness to learn
• Pride in your work and a collaborative approach
• Availability for evening and weekend services

Japanese cooking, sushi or raw bar experience is welcome. If you’re coming from another cuisine and keen to build your skills, we’d love to hear from you too.
