About the role
We are seeking a motivated and organised Sector Lead – Building to join Standards Australia.
Reporting to the Senior Manager – Building, this role supports the delivery of standards development activities across an assigned portfolio.
The role combines structured project coordination with proactive stakeholder engagement, supporting the effective operation of technical committees and the progression of standards proposals, projects and international participation.
Working closely with the Senior Manager and engaging with industry stakeholders, committee members and internal teams, the Sector Lead contributes to the development of high-quality standards that support safety, innovation and industry outcomes across Australia.

Key responsibilities include:
The role supports the development and maintenance of national and international building‑related standards, including NCC‑referenced documents, by providing project, committee, and stakeholder support across the standards development lifecycle. It works closely with technical committees and working groups focused on building materials, building systems, and construction methods, ensuring projects are delivered within agreed scope and timeframes and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
The position contributes to effective consultation, ballot, and publication processes, maintains accurate stakeholder and committee records, and supports Australian participation in international standards activities. It also plays a key role in facilitating structured, inclusive committee engagement and responding to stakeholder enquiries. Through project coordination and administrative support, the role contributes to initiatives that promote the adoption of innovative, safe, and high‑quality building materials and practices, aligned with safety, quality, and productivity objectives across the built environment.
