About the role
You will be reviewing, modifying and maintaining existing internal organisational policies, instructional procedures and guides to ensure procedural correctness. Where required, the Policy Writer will create new documentation.
This role will collaborate with relevant departments to write and introduce the appropriate documentation to ensure it is in line with Standards Australia’s vision, mission and objectives.
What you’ll do
- Partnering with internal customers to understand business requirements.
- Providing advice that aligns with best practice to develop meaningful documentation.
- Reviewing existing policies, procedures and guides to ensure they are relevant, suitable, clear and concise.
- Cross-referencing documentation to check and ensure consistency.
- Writing and proofreading high quality, easy-to-understand (plain language) and accurate documentation.
- Assisting with the establishment of consultative workgroups and coaching these groups to enable effective consultation and feedback for policy, procedure and guide drafts.
- Collaborating with the relevant parties to ensure new documentation is fit-for-purpose and actively used.
- Consulting with relevant parties to ensure the compliance and update of documents.
- Seeking appropriate approvals for relevant documentation to be published.
- Maintaining the Document Governance Framework.
- Coordinating initiatives to modernise business documentation with a focus on accessibility and clarity
You will bring - A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Technical Writer; ideally drafting company policies and procedures, delivering clear and concise documentation with excellent attention to detail.
- Expertise in editing/proofreading, grammar, spelling, sentence structure and punctuation.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to partner closely at all levels to understand requirements.
- Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easy to understand.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working to agreed timeframes, managing multiple and competing requests, and prioritising workload and support accordingly.
- Desirable: Knowledge of or certification in Lean 6 Sigma methodologies to improve documentation and processes across the business.
