Spirit of Tasmania is recognised as a key contributor to the Australian tourism industry and for supporting Australia’s economic development through the delivery of a world-class ferry service to passengers and freight. As the company enters a period of significant financial and operational transformation - including investment in new-generation vessels, a new terminal facility in Devonport, and a renewed focus on long-term sustainability - this is an exciting time to join the Spirit of Tasmania and contribute to its future success.
The People and Culture Manager will play a key role in leading the delivery of contemporary people practices that support organisational performance, employee engagement, leadership capability and a positive workplace culture. Reporting to the Executive General Manager People and Culture, this position leads the People and Culture team and partners with leaders across the business to deliver practical people solutions that align with organisational priorities. Ideally based in Devonport, the role offers flexibility for either full-time or part-time (0.8 FTE) employment.
This is a broad leadership role across workforce attraction and retention, employee engagement, leadership development, organisational development, change management, workforce planning, and employee and industrial relations. You will have the opportunity to help modernise and strengthen people processes, build organisational capability, and contribute to the continued evolution of the People and Culture function.
The successful candidate will be an experienced People and Culture professional with strong generalist capability and a practical, people-centred approach. You will bring experience leading teams, managing complex people matters, and supporting organisational change. Excellent communication, relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, along with the ability to balance operational delivery with broader organisational thinking.
This is a unique opportunity to join an iconic Tasmanian organisation at a time of significant transformation. You will make a genuine impact by strengthening culture, supporting leaders, developing the workforce, and helping shape the future of People and Culture at Spirit of Tasmania.
