TasBuild Limited manages the Portable Long Service Fund for eligible workers in the Tasmanian construction industry. Appointed by the Tasmanian Government in 1998, TasBuild operates as a private trustee company, ensuring the Fund is administered in line with the Construction Industry (Long Service) Act 1997 and its rules. TasBuild supports employers and workers through guidance and education, maintains service records, collects long service contributions, invests funds, and facilitates the payment of eligible long service entitlements.
The Chairperson will lead the Board of TasBuild, providing clear strategic direction and ensuring effective governance oversight of the Fund. Working closely with the Board and Chief Executive Officer, the role is responsible for fostering a high‑performing and collegiate board environment, supporting disciplined and well‑informed decision making, and ensuring the organisation meets its statutory and fiduciary obligations. The Chairperson will also play an important role in maintaining constructive relationships with industry stakeholders, all levels of government, contributors and beneficiaries, supporting the long‑term sustainability and relevance of the Fund.
The successful candidate will bring a proven track record of board and leadership experience. They will demonstrate strong financial acumen, sound judgement and the ability to facilitate robust and balanced board deliberations. An accomplished communicator, they will engage collaboratively with stakeholders, bringing credibility, independence and a strategic and considered leadership approach. Exposure to construction or investment management would be well regarded.
