The Rural Youth Organisation of Tasmania is a membership-based organisation for young people.
The Rural Youth Organisation of Tasmania is a membership-based organisation for young people aged 15 to 30 years coming together to make friends, learn skills and work towards Growing Rural Tasmania. In 2025, Rural Youth celebrated 75 years of success of making a difference in the lives of young Tasmanians.
With 11 rural youth groups around the State, Rural Youth provides its members with opportunities to travel interstate and overseas, enter State and National competitions, including the Young Farmer of the Year, learn new skills and explore individual talents. A team of highly valued volunteers and employees also proudly deliver a number of high profile events throughout the year including Agfest and an annual ball. Based at Quercus Park, in brand-new purpose-built offices just a short drive from Launceston, this is an exciting opportunity for a Chief Executive Officer to lead Rural Youth, overseeing day-to-day operations and driving the organisation’s vision to connect, develop, and celebrate young Tasmanians.
The role will work closely with the Board in the development and implementation of the strategic plan, management of administration, financial and human resources, and the review, development and implementation of organisational systems, policies, and procedures. The Chief Executive Officer will also oversee event management and communications, ensure that membership levels and services continue to grow and develop, and continue to build and enhance Rural Youth’s profile and effectiveness.
The successful applicant will demonstrate previous success in a similar role, combined with sound financial and human resource management skills. The role will be suited to a strategic thinker, with strong people management skills, and excellent organisational and communication skills. A collaborative approach to working with volunteers, staff, stakeholders, and the broader community will be critical to the success of the role.
This rewarding role is ideal for a values-driven leader committed to supporting an organisation that provides diverse opportunities and experiences for young Tasmanians.
