The Department of State Growth - supporting business and industry to grow in Tasmania.
The Department of State Growth is a key Tasmanian Government agency focused on driving economic growth and supporting the community, industry and business in the creation of jobs and opportunities for Tasmanians. The department has a wide portfolio, working across sectors and services that include investment attraction, transport, infrastructure, skills, training and workforce growth, the visitor economy, the creative industries, sport and events, trade, science and technology, resources, energy and renewables, and regional economic development.
The department operates within a strong governance framework that promotes ethical, efficient, and effective outcomes. As part of its commitment to accountability and continuous improvement, the department is seeking two experienced professionals to join its Risk and Audit Committee as external members.
Committee members will contribute to the strategic oversight of the department’s risk management, compliance, internal control, and audit functions. They will provide expert advice on risk mitigation, audit findings, and governance practices, supporting the department to maintain its high standards of integrity and performance. The Committee plays a vital role in supporting the department’s ability to deliver its outputs with confidence and transparency.
Successful applicants will have proven experience serving on risk and audit committees, along with a sound understanding of their role and value. Extensive practical knowledge and experience in risk management and corporate governance in large, diverse, regulated organisations is also desirable. Demonstrated skills in strategic oversight of risk and audit, critical analysis, ethical decision making, and a collaborative approach are essential.
