The Public Trustee has been serving Tasmanians for over 100 years and continues to provide specialist services to the Tasmanian community in relation to Wills, Estates and Trustee services. Operating as a Government Business Enterprise, the organisation has branches located in Hobart, Launceston and Devonport. The Public Trustee is an independent and impartial organisation whose vision is to be recognised for its professionalism, respected for its integrity and valued by its clients. The role of Chairperson is a key appointment for the Public Trustee at a time of continued transformation of the organisation. The Chairperson will provide leadership to the Board and work with the CEO in focusing on strategic matters and maintaining high governance standards. The Chairperson will also play a central role in leading the Board to meet community expectations of the Public Trustee, particularly in relation to the delivery of services and customer experiences that provide best achievable outcomes for all clients of the Public Trustee. The role of the Board is to ensure the Public Trustee provides its services with empathy, dignity and respect.
The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in leading successful development and functioning of a high performing Board and assuring a strategic focus and an inclusive and effective Board culture. Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, excellent judgement, a strong customer focus and an understanding of the importance of sound governance is essential. An understanding of the Tasmanian community and the environment that the Public Trustee operates in is also required.
