As Tasmania’s premier provider of First Aid Services, St John is supported by a team of highly trained volunteers who deliver first aid at a wide range of community, social, and sporting events, as well as during emergency responses such as bushfires, floods, and other disasters. In addition, St John provides assistive aids and technology and runs Community Care Services, offering transport and support to vulnerable Tasmanians. The Chief Executive Officer position is a unique opportunity for a visionary leader to shape the future of St John, driving its governance, strategy, and operations to deliver lasting community impact. Based in Hobart, the Chief Executive Officer will work closely with the Board and Executive team in the effective delivery of community and commercial services aligned with organisational goals. Other key responsibilities include maintaining strategic relationships, identifying growth opportunities, and ensuring the organisation remains sustainable and customer focussed.
The successful candidate will be a values-driven leader with a deep commitment to St John’s mission and strategic priorities. They will bring proven senior leadership experience, ideally within complex, commercially orientated human services organisations. Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship building skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple projects and foster a high performing workplace culture. The role requires expertise in governance, contemporary management, and financial oversight, with a track record of delivering results.
