We’re seeking an Assistant Director to join our team at Southport Catholic Parish Long Day Care and Kindergarten in Ashmore. The Assistant Director role is permanent, part-time, and offers up to 35 hours per week.
This is a rewarding leadership opportunity for an experienced early childhood professional who is passionate about supporting educators, building strong relationships with families and helping create a high-quality environment for children to thrive.
Our service is a 50-place, small and family-oriented centre with expansive natural outdoor play areas that provide children with a unique learning environment where creativity, exploration and curiosity can flourish.
Our service provides a warm, nurturing and inclusive environment where children feel safe, valued and inspired to explore and develop their love of learning.
Working closely with the Centre Director, you’ll play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the service, guiding educators and helping to foster a positive and collaborative team culture.
What You’ll Do
- Support the Centre Director with the day-to-day operations of the service
- Provide leadership, guidance and support to educators
- Help create a positive, collaborative and supportive team environment
- Support high-quality early childhood education and care practices
- Build strong and trusting relationships with children, families and educators
- Assist with administrative, compliance and operational responsibilities
- Support the implementation of policies, procedures and continuous improvement initiatives
- Assist with programming and practice across the service
- Help maintain a safe, secure and nurturing environment for all children
- Step into leadership responsibilities when the Centre Director is away
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a positive, motivated and approachable leader who is passionate about early childhood and ready to make a meaningful impact.
You will have:
- A Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education and Care (ACECQA-approved)
- Experience in an early childhood leadership role, such as Room Leader, Team Leader or Assistant Director
- Strong knowledge of the EYLF, NQS and contemporary early childhood practices
- Demonstrated ability to support, mentor and work collaboratively with a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive, organised and reflective approach
- A genuine passion for creating positive outcomes for children and families
- Current Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card), or willingness to obtain one
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications
- Willingness to complete Child Protection Training
