Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a Public Sector client based in Portsmouth, are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team and play a crucial role within their social care/public health finance operations. 

Position: Senior Accountant
Rate: £29.20 per hour (Umbrella) 
Contract: Temp (Apr 2027) Possible Extension 
Working Arrangement: Hybrid

Purpose:

• The roles require a diverse set of skills and knowledge, as they cover a wide range of tasks, such as the preparation, monitoring and closing of revenue and capital budgets, provision of financial advice to the Directorate and where relevant schools, interpreting government guidance, completion of statutory returns, compliance with grant conditions and supporting high profile projects.

Job Responsibilities:

• Driving the annual DSG budget-setting process and school funding arrangements.
• Monitoring and reporting funding performance, identifying financial risks and opportunities.
• Provision of high-quality financial analysis, reporting and advice.
• Providing guidance and support to the service and where relevant schools to help achieve financially sustainable outcomes.
• Developing financial models and costing options to support strategic decision-making.
• Evaluating efficiencies, savings opportunities and investment proposals.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation. 
• Be CIMA or CCAB qualified i.e. ICAS, ACCA, ICAEW or CIPFA and be able to demonstrate professional updating.
• Demonstrable experience of building productive relationships and influencing a wide range of stakeholders, including senior managers, elected members, schools, partners and external agencies.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
