Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy public sector client in Stoke-on-Trent, are looking for an experienced Payments Assistant to join their team and play a crucial role in their accounts payable operations. 

Position: Payments Assistant
Rate: £17.84 per hour (Umbrella) 
Contract Duration: Temp (Dec 2026) Possible Extension
Working Arrangement: Hybrid

Job Purpose:

• To assist in providing an efficient, effective and quality accounts payable function. 

Job Responsibilities:

• To assist in ensuring that all forms of supplier payments are accurately and promptly processed.
• Administer the invoice mailbox on a rota basis. 
• To assist in the maintenance of the payments system. 
• To negotiate with suppliers in relation to dispute and payment terms. 

Job Requirements:

• A good knowledge of Local Authority or similar accounts payable systems and processes. 
• Computer literate in finance systems and Microsoft office. 
• Good oral and written communication.
