Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy client based in Newbury, are looking for an experienced Principal Lawyer to join their team and play a crucial role in their employee relations operations.       

Position: Principal Lawyer (People)
Salary: £51,356 per annum 
Contract Duration: Temporary (3 Months) Possible Extension  

Purpose:

• To deputise for the Legal Services Manager and/or Service Lead (Legal & Democratic) when required. 

Job Responsibilities: 

• Personally undertake a significant caseload of high-level work in at least one area of Law covered by the Team.
• To deal with high profile, complex work which may have a significant impact on the Council, its services and/or clients. To identify such matters within their area of work/supervision and to monitor and progress such matters appropriately.
• Participate in the development of the Council’s policies and initiatives as required, including participation in multi-disciplinary working parties.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• Practising Solicitor or Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive (ability to
  conduct litigation on behalf of the Council). 
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
