Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in Northwest England, are looking for an experienced Principal Planner to join their team and play a crucial role within their  planning operations.  

Position: Principal Planner
Rate: £29.90 per hour (Umbrella, Inside IR35) 
Contract Duration: Temporary (August 2026) Possible Extension  
Working Arrangement: Hybrid

Job Purpose: 

• The role will assist the DM Manager and Strategic Planning Lead in managing and building a high performing team as part of the wider strategic planning service which is responsive to the needs of its customers.

Job Duties: 

• Acting as a main technical lead on the processing of all aspects of minerals and waste planning applications and planning applications for the county council's own development proposals.
• Providing pre- application advice and preparing screening and scoping opinions and assessment of environmental statements. 
• Preparing committee reports, attending committee meetings and presenting planning applications and other planning related matters to elected members of the Council. 

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject. 
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
