Job Role: Technical Officer (Pollution)
Temporary or Permanent: Temp
Possible End Date: 24/07/2026 (possible extension)
Number of Positions: 2 positions
Location: Bradford
Rate of Pay:  £20.65p/h umbrella 

Job Summary:
2 roles available - responsibilities outlined below!

1. Technical Officer 1 is to focus primarily on one specific investigation. They will be expected to be in Bradford each working day and will report directly to the Environmental Health Manager whilst supporting Officers and the Principal Environmental Health Manager.
  
2. Technical Officer 2 will need to work on district, so it is expected that they will typically be in Bradford three or four days a week, working either out on district or in a Council office (primarily based at Britannia House).

Key Responsibilities:

• To carry out the collection of evidence to enforce appropriate statutes used in the service of notices, the defence of appeals and the prosecution of offences.
• To act as a professional witness on behalf of the Council in court and to attend meetings and panels of the Council to give technical advice when required.
• To carry out the detection, monitoring and abatement of statutory nuisance
• To carry out the monitoring and control of pollution whether to land, water, the atmosphere or by noise.
• To carry out visits and supervise remedial works to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including compliance with enforcement notices.
• To carry out sampling of a wide range of materials including drinking water, air, land and other hazardous materials, e.g. asbestos.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 2 years experience within a Technical Officer (Pollution) or equivalent 
• Degree in environmental or associated science OR Diploma in acoustics and noise control/certificate of competency in environmental
  noise measurement
• Uses knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental policies,
  procedures and regulations including risks in own area of
  work
• Able to drive and holds appropriate licence
