Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority in West Sussex, are looking for an experienced Cook to join their team and play a crucial role within their food preparation and delivery operations.        

Position: Chef/Cook
Rate: £20 per hour (Umbrella, Inside IR35) 
Contract Duration: Temporary (3 Months) Possible Extension 

Job Purpose: 

• To prepare and deliver food as part of a professional kitchen team, to provide a high-quality catering service to customers.

Job Responsibilities: 

• Prepare and cook a range of dishes to a professional standard, taking a lead on a specific station within the kitchen, so that dishes are of high quality in line with defined menus and recipes/dish designs.
• Contribute ideas to the devising of new dishes and help to cook and prepare new dishes in the development stage, to support the menu development process.
• Manage stock through doing stock checks, placing orders as directed, and ensuring all food is stored and labelled correctly, to minimise waste and help control budget expenditure.
• Undertake cleaning activities to meet and maintain standards of hygiene and health and safety in accordance with the council’s code of practice and external legislation.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• Experience within a Chef role or equivalent.
• Level 2 qualification in professional cookery, catering, and hospitality, or equivalent.
• Enhanced DBS required
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
