Tempting Recruitment are working alongside our client, a Local Authority, who are looking to recruit an experienced Interim Quality Assurance and Improvement Officer (Senior Practitioner) to join their Quality Assurance team based in Birmingham.

JOB SUMMARY As an
Interim Quality Assurance and Improvement Officer (Senior Practitioner), you will play a key role in evaluating and improving practice across Birmingham. You will work collaboratively with colleagues, managers, and partners to ensure that children and families receive the highest quality of support and care.
You will be responsible for conducting practice evaluations, audits, and thematic reviews, providing professional feedback, and helping to embed a culture of continuous improvement and learning across the Trust.
JOB DESCRIPTION The duties and responsibilities of the role will include:
- Undertake practice evaluations and audits to assess the quality and impact of social work practice for children and families.
- Identify and support continual practice and performance improvement across service areas.
- Provide specialist QA advice, guidance, and feedback to practitioners and leaders to improve outcomes.
- Collate, analyse, and report findings to inform leadership decision-making.
- Work collaboratively with the Learning Academy and Practice Hub to embed learning and drive improvement.
- Deliver training, reflective sessions, and informal mentoring to support staff development.
- Ensure practice evaluation findings reflect the voices and experiences of children and families.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice in children’s services.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE The successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies:
- The ideal candidate will be a qualified and registered Social Worker with extensive post-qualifying experience in statutory children’s services, particularly in quality assurance, auditing, and performance improvement.
You will have:
- A recognised professional Social Work qualification (Degree/Masters/Post Graduate Diploma).
- Registration with Social Work England (SWE).
- Demonstrated experience in auditing, quality assurance, and practice improvement.
- Strong communication and analytical skills with the ability to influence and advise at all levels.
- A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
