Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority in Northwest England, are looking for an experienced Category Manager to join their team and play a crucial role within their constructions operations.       

Position: Category Manager
Rate: £325 per day (Umbrella, Outside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (February 2026) with Possible Extension  
Working Arrangement: Fully Remote 

Purpose:

• Deliver and manage procurement requirements for service areas which will include developing tender packages and managing tender procedures to meet service requirements and to ensure the best outcomes for both customers and the Council.

Job Responsibilities: 

• Shape and influence service planning and budgets, using expertise to identify relevant customer, professional or legislative trends that may impact on delivery.
• Provide technical assurance and prepare standards, policies and procedures within area of specialism, ensuring compliance with best practice, relevant legislation and Council policy frameworks.
• Design, develop and deliver formal and informal technical training programs for both internal and external service providers to ensure best practice is delivered across the service.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 1 year experience within a Category Manager role or equivalent.
• Chartered Institute of Procurement qualified to level 5 and working to full professional MCIPS qualification.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
