Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority in East Anglia, are looking for an experienced Locum Consultant Public Health Medicine to join their team and play a crucial role in their public health operations.       

Position: Locum Consultant Public Health Medicine
Rate: £500 per day (Umbrella, Outside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (April 2026) with Possible Extension  
Working Arrangement: Hybrid

Purpose:

• This is an exciting opportunity to come and join us as part of our large, successful public health team. Joining our Public Health Specialist Team, you will support the Director of Public Health to deliver their statutory public health functions across the council with opportunities to help shape and develop ambitious aims for prevention both in the county council and within the Integrated Care System (ICS).

Job Responsibilities: 

• As a senior level expert, you will advise on public health practice across the spectrum of both our direct work and that of our partners.
• The current area needing Consultant input is healthy living / health improvement, including leading an internal strategic review on all age healthy weight and nutrition, providing strategic leadership on smoking and vaping, and Consultant input and advice on other healthy living / health improvement topic areas such as NHS Health Checks and behaviour change, though portfolios can vary over time across the breadth of local authority public health.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 1 year experience within a Locum Consultant Public Health Medicine role or equivalent.
• Evidence of relevant continuous professional development such as APM, LEAN, Prince 2, MSP.
• You will have inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register / GDC Specialist Register / UK Voluntary Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists and will be able to evidence CPD requirements in accordance with Faculty of Public Health requirements or other recognised body.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
