Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority in South Yorkshire, are looking for an experienced EHCO Plan Coordinator to join their team and play a crucial role in their special educational needs operations.    
 
Position: Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO)
Rate: £36.13 per hour (Umbrella, Outside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (May 2026) with Possible Extension  

Job Purpose: 

• The role of a LADO is a specialist one which stands alone in the local authority. As an authoritative professional, it is a role that may involve challenging senior managers and may require the LADO to use statutory powers to escalate to senior management within and outside the local authority. 

Job Responsibilities: 

• Dealing with all referrals to the Local Authority concerning allegations about staff or volunteers with a varied caseload of looked after children and young people ensuring good practice in the delivery of a quality Service.
• Leading on providing quality assurance and improvement challenge that enables children’s social care teams and partner agencies to improve the quality and effectiveness of their practice including direct work with children and young people.
• Represent Children’s Safeguarding & Social Care at multi-agency meetings ensuring staff are aware of their role in ensuring children with whom they work are safeguarded.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 1 year experience within a Local Authority Designated Officer role or equivalent.
• An understanding of the application of the legislation and statutory guidance relating to looked after children, care leavers, fostering and adoption.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
