Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority in East London, are looking for an experienced Senior Planning Officer to join their team and play a crucial role in their council planning operations.    
 
Position: Senior Planning Officer
Rate: £260 per day (Umbrella, Outside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (March 2026) with Possible Extension  

Job Purpose: 

• This is a unique opportunity to work on a diverse range of complex and major planning applications, shaping a borough known for its innovation, culture, and growth.

Job Responsibilities: 

• Taking a lead role in managing a full range of Development Management casework, from pre-application advice through to major applications and appeals.
• Acting as the lead officer for the Planning Appeal function, with a special focus on representing the Council at Public Inquiries.
• Leading negotiations with developers on complex applications to secure financial and other community benefits through Section 106 legal agreements.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 1 year experience within a Home Buy Officer role or equivalent.
• A post-graduate qualification in Town Planning and current (or eligible) membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
