Job Role: Fire Building Safety Specialist
Temporary or Permanent: Temp
Possible End Date: 3 months (Possible Extension)
Location: Barking
Office Based/Hybrid: TBC
Rate of Pay: £600 a day umbrella inside IR35

Purpose:
The primary purpose of the Fire and Building Safety Specialist is to ensure the safety and compliance of residential buildings within the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham (LBBD).
This role is critical in fulfilling the requirements set forth by the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act, Fire Safety Order, and Building Safety Regulator. The specialist will act as the Accountable Person, responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of fire and building safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review all surveys, identify the key risks and ensure compliance through engagement with internal and external stakeholders to ensure risks are mitigated.
• Ensure operational targets and objectives are achieved and regularly review individual contractor performance in terms of statutory & regulatory compliance, customer service, health and safety, quality, productivity and Value for Money.
• Ensure that all necessary asset information and databases are routinely updated, and all information held on fire and building safety is accurate and readily available, including providing technical support and advice in relation to regulatory requirements to a range of audiences.
• Ensure competent support and technical advice to colleagues in all areas of LBBD on matters concerning fire and building safety by sharing knowledge and understanding of applicable legislation, internal policy, and sector best practice.
• Responsible for liaising with Development, reviewing and challenging where necessary new designs and fire strategies. Promote a positive fire safety culture throughout the organisation, playing a proactive role in the identification and remediation of issues as they arise

Job Requirements:

• At least 2 years experience within a Fire Building Safety Specialist role or equivalent.
• A degree or equivalent qualification in Fire and Building Safety management.
• Membership in professional organisations like RICS, IFE, IFSM, IOSH, IIRSM, CQI, CIOB.
• In-depth knowledge of fire safety regulations, standards, and best practices. Comprehensive understanding of building safety regulations, including the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act, and Fire Safety Order.
