Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in Portsmouth, are looking for an experienced Building Surveyor to join their team and play a crucial role in their surveying operations.  

Position: Building Surveyor
Location: Portsmouth
Salary: £18.10 per hour (PAYE, Inside IR35) 
Contract Duration: Temporary (April 2026) with Possible Extension 

Purpose:

• We are seeking a skilled Building Surveyor to conduct stock condition surveys on Gosport's housing stock. The successful candidate will update and maintain the council's stock condition database, ensuring accurate data collection and reporting. This role involves liaising with colleagues, briefing staff, and addressing queries arising from the surveys.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct stock condition surveys on Gosport's rented housing properties, including individual dwellings and communal areas.
• Collect survey data using hard copy forms and transition to mobile data collection devices.
• Identify missing components, propose additions, and update the master component list.
• Assign and record 'Next Inspection Year' for all components, ensuring accuracy based on existing data.
• Obtain approval for adjustments to inspection dates from the Senior Surveyor.
• Ensure accurate classification and identification of all property components.

Job Requirements:

• Proven experience in conducting and managing building condition surveys.
• Strong knowledge of building components, condition assessments, and lifecycle planning.
• Ability to work efficiently within deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Familiarity with planning, building control, and statutory requirements.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical details to non-specialists.
• Competence in IT systems, including Microsoft Office and data collection software.
• A minimum of five years' experience in a relevant surveying or building industry role.
• A current driving license and access to a vehicle for work use.
• Hybrid working is available
