Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in Southeast London, are looking for an experienced Building Control Surveyor to join their team and play a crucial role in their building control operations.  

Position: Building Control Surveyor
Rate: Negotiable (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (September 2025) with Possible Extension 

Purpose:

• Supervise and inspect building work on site under the Building Act/Building Regulations/London Building Act; and as adviser to other directorates in respect of entertainment licensing and notifiable works attracting repair/improvement grants.

Duties: 

• Deal with plans and particulars related to building proposal ensuring decisions upon such schemes are issued within agreed or statutory time limits according to the appropriate legislation.
• Verify the justification of complaints/breaches of Regulations reported by members of the public and act upon such matters including the preparation of Notices and evidence in support of legal proceedings.
• Deal with enquiries from the public, developers, potential developers, other directorates, other authorities. Council Members etc on building control issues and proposals involving interpretation/regulations and technical criteria.
• Prepare full and accurate records of each site inspection.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 6 years experience within a Building Control Surveyor role or equivalent.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development. 
• Minimum 3H RBI (Registered Building Inspector) 
• At least six years building control experience working on high-rise and complex buildings.
• Associate membership of the CABE, CIOB, RICS or equivalent is essential.
