Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in Greater London, are looking for an experienced Head of Advanced Markets to join their team and play a crucial role in their Innovation & Growth operations.  

Position: Head of Advanced Markets
Rate: Negotiable
Contract Duration: Temporary (August 2025) with Possible Extension 

• The purpose of this role is to lead the development and delivery of the country plans and market based strategies and projects within the Advanced Markets Competitiveness Strategy. The Head will drive trade and investment outcomes within and across Advanced Markets and be responsible for achieving outcomes arising from projects, inbound and outbound engagement in and across those markets. The Advanced Markets currently includes Europe, US, Japan, Canada, Australia and Singapore, as well as engagement with the UK regions and nations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and quality assure the development and delivery of the strategic engagement with UK Partners and Advanced Markets (AM) including developing country and partner plans and strategies aligned to industry and UK government priorities.
• Lead a workstream within the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Trade project and quality assure inputs outputs to achieve outcomes of FDI wins within named targets from Advanced Markets.
• Oversee the integration of the Advanced Markets team into the wider work of Innovation and Growth (IG) and the Corporation. Work with Head of High Growth Markets to ensure pattern recognition and efficient ways of working across markets, including building channels for bringing high quality market intelligence into strategic planning across the IG.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 1 year experience within a Head of Advanced Markets role or equivalent.
• Educated to at least degree level (or equivalent) or have significant and demonstrable experience working in a relevant field which would demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge.
• An extensive knowledge of key opportunities, issues and challenges in trade and investment in the financial and professional services sector.
• An extensive knowledge of trade policies and regulations governing UK financial and professional services particularly those that relate to trade and investment.
