Position: Category Manager
Rate: £400 per hour
Contract Duration: May 2025 (with possible extension)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm
   
   
Key Responsibilities:

• Providing excellent senior level commercial advice to support the Council to achieve it's corporate objectives.
• Working in partnership with the relevant Department, acting as a key strategic adviser on complex procurement matters, managing procurement projects of high value, complexity and/or risk and to guide and advise the relevant department(s) to achieve the twin objectives of value for money and social value.
• Providing expert technical information, advice, guidance and challenge on all aspects of the procurement process to internal customers.
• Managing relationships with third party partners, and to ensure that any potential risks within procurements are effectively managed to safeguard successful delivery of outcomes.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 2 years’ experience within a Category Manager role or equivalent.
• Previous work experience, in particular gained within a Procurement/Category environment.
• Excellent customer service skills with proven ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal), in particular when resolving complaints and other matters.
