Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in Southeast London, are looking for an experienced Highways Engineer to join their team and play a crucial role in their Highways/Transport operations. 

Position: Highways Engineer
Rate: £30 per hour (Umbrella) 
Contract Duration: Temporary (April 2025) with Possible Extension

Key Responsibilities:

• Accountable to the relevant Group Manager or Principal Engineer for the carrying out of safety inspections of the highway, managing minor repairs, and responding to service requests from residents.
• Undertake routine safety inspections of the highway.
• Issue works orders within agreed programmes and delegated limits for repairs identified in the course of the safety inspections.
• Inspect work by contractors and statutory undertakers, checking for quality and quantity and materials as per specification.
• Produce estimates and carry out measurements for costing purposes.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 1 year experience within a Highways Engineer or equivalent.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
