Position: Principal Planning Consultant 
Rate: £45 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract Duration: January 2025 (with possible extension)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm
   
   
Key Responsibilities:

• To help provide a high quality, cost effective, professional Strategic Planning service, based upon the statutory framework but incorporating the City Council’s values, standards, policies, and priorities.
• To help manage and contribute towards: the preparation or update and adoption of the City Council’s Local Plan; preparation of the Local Development Framework for the City and associated supplementary planning documents; Minerals and Waste Local Development Framework and other strategic planning documents and evidence as well as sub-regional and regional planning strategies.
• To support the Strategic Planning Manager in providing technical leadership to the work of the team and in the supervision of junior members of staff.
• To assist the Strategic Planning Manager in responding to and developing the Government’s agenda for planning reform.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 2 years’ experience within a Principal Planning Consultant role or equivalent.
• Previous work experience, in particular gained within a Planning  environment.
• Excellent customer service skills with proven ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal), in particular when resolving complaints and other matters.
