PAY RATE: £40,221 annual (Relocation allowance available)

JOB SUMMARY
The Social Worker will carry out the statutory duties & responsibilities of the council within relevant legislative frameworks. Work within council policies, procedures and good practice guidelines in order to meet the needs of children & families. Work with children and young people, families, carers & communities to help them make informed decisions, engender change enabling them to clarify and express their needs and contribute to service planning.
  
JOB DESCRIPTION
The duties and responsibilities of the role will include:

• Undertake complex assessments and be responsible for actions in situations where a child or vulnerable adult’s safety is at risk, observing safeguarding policies/procedures, the legal principles of the Children Act 1989, Working Together statutory guidance and other relevant legislation
• Ensure that information and services are delivered to children, families and carers is in an appropriate format in line with our duties under the Equality Act. Promote equality as an integral part of the role and treat everyone with fairness and dignity
• Fulfil the responsibilities of an accountable statutory allocated social worker or supervising social worker with a workload commensurate with their level of competence, qualification and experience.  

  
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies:

• Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England.
• Completion of the Skills for Care ASYE Programme or equivalent demonstration of professional capabilities if alternative route to social work (e.g. non-UK based initial year in practice) or pre-ASYE qualification.
• Significant knowledge, understanding and experience of applying relevant legislation and statutory guidance in relation to delivery of statutory social work tasks
• Ability to undertake comprehensive planned and dynamic assessments within statutory frameworks and timescales, demonstrating analytical and engagement skills including with more complex family situations
