(WEX) Advisor and Assessor – Early Years 
Salary: £25,265 – £31,829
Hours: Full-time (1 FTE)
Reporting to: Senior Student Placement Officer
Job Purpose The WEX Advisor and Assessor – Early Years is responsible for sourcing, coordinating, and managing high-quality work placements and related activities for students on Early Years Study Programmes. This role ensures placements align with students' career aspirations and meet the requirements of their courses.
Key Responsibilities Work Placement Coordination

• Collaborate with curriculum teams to meet placement needs and encourage additional engagement.
• Identify and secure work placement opportunities through sector contacts, networking, and marketing efforts.
• Manage employer relationships to sustain and expand placement opportunities.
• Support T Level students in sourcing placements and conducting necessary observations.
• Ensure all placements comply with health and safety standards as per college policies.

Assessment and Employer Engagement

• Conduct assessments in line with relevant qualification standards.
• Assist in establishing employer advisory boards to inform sector-specific skills development.
• Engage employers in designing and supporting the Career Advantage Framework.

Student Support and Monitoring

• Meet with students individually and in groups to identify career aspirations and match them to suitable placements.
• Promote and support the use of the college’s online placement and skills portal.
• Monitor student attendance, behaviour, and performance during placements, addressing any issues in coordination with personal tutors.

Administration and Reporting

• Maintain accurate placement records in the CRM system.
• Provide regular updates and reports on placement activities and student outcomes.
• Contribute to team and individual performance targets and KPIs.

General Duties

• Represent the college at events, parent evenings, and enrolment sessions.
• Support curriculum teams during course experience events.
• Contribute to the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and quality improvement initiatives.
• Comply with college policies, including health and safety requirements.
• Engage in training and professional development activities as needed.

Person Specification Qualifications

• Essential:
  • Level 3 or higher qualification in the childcare sector.
  • Level 2 English and Maths.
• Desirable:
  • Assessor award.

Knowledge and Experience

• Essential:
  • Understanding of work placements and their integration into the FE sector.
• Desirable:
  • Knowledge of government-funded training and T Levels.

Skills and Competencies

• Essential:
  • Ability to plan and manage workload effectively.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience with CRM systems and generating data reports using Microsoft Excel.
  • Capability to provide Information, Advice, and Guidance (IAG) to students.
• Desirable:
  • Sales or employer engagement experience.
