Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a local authority in Northwest London, are looking for an experienced Principal Urban Design Officer to join their team and play a crucial role in their planning & building control operations. 

Position: Principal Urban Design Officer
Rate: £33.30 per hour (Umbrella) 
Contract Duration: Temporary (6 to 8 Months) with Possible Extension  
Working Pattern: Hybrid - Mix of Home and Office/Onsite

Key Responsibilities:

• Negotiation and appraisal of major and strategic planning proposals in relation to private and own regeneration programmes. 
• Principal specialist advisor to the Planning service in relation to urban design, architectural appraisals and public realm. 
• Support the Planning Policy team in the development and review of design policies and supplementary planning guidance on residential design. 
• The role is key in the delivery of the spatial strategy and regeneration programme, with the post holder taking the lead on design input into schemes which will deliver over 8,000 new homes over the next 10 years, new schools, modern office development and new town centre uses, in addition to the creation of new public squares and open spaces. 

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 2 years’ experience within a Principal Urban Design Officer role or equivalent.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• The post holder will be able to demonstrate experience both within the public and private sectors.
• Educated to degree level or equivalent or has the equivalent relevant work experience (RIBA part II as a minimum or equivalent Masters degree).
