Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a local authority in East of England, are looking for an experienced Litigation Solicitor to join their team and play a crucial role in their Civil/Criminal operations.
Position: Litigation Solicitor
Rate: £49,498 to £53,578 per annum
Contract Duration: Permanent
Key Responsibilities:
To contribute to the provision of a comprehensive high quality legal service to the Council and its service areas.
The main focus of the post is: criminal and civil litigation, licensing and contracts, and common law advice and assistance, including undertaking contentious advocacy in courts and, where necessary, tribunals and inquiries, covering client service areas including Environmental Health, Licensing, Planning, Housing Benefits, Trading Standards, Highways and Housing.
- To provide high quality, timely, well researched legal advice and services to all officers and elected members.
- Providing legal advice and assistance to service departments on their regulatory statutory duties and enforcement responsibilities which include finance and exchequer; environmental health and trading standards; land and property ; planning and building control; housing; licensing and highways.
- To draft reports and attend internal meetings to provide legal and procedural advice as necessary and to represent the client as appropriate at external meetings.
Job Requirements: - Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
- At least 2 years’ experience within a Litigation Solicitor role or equivalent.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Admitted Solicitor or Barrister (England and Wales) with current Practising Certificate and educated to degree level.
- Demonstrate substantial post qualification experience of local authority law and practice in criminal and civil litigation, regulatory advice, and some experience of contracts or licensing.
