Position: Placement Officer
Rate: £17 per hour
Contract Duration: 4 - 6 months (with possible extension)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm
   
   
Key Responsibilities:

• Broker and negotiate complex packages of care that meet the needs of the child and offer value for money.
• To work effectively in a busy and challenging environment with responsibility for the duty desk and prioritising of new referrals.
• To manage a caseload of placement searches to ensure that appropriate placements are made in a timely way.
• Present options appraisal and write reports to the Head of Service and Service Director to gain authorisation of placements.
• Maintain case records of placement searches and general administration related to departmental policies and procedures.
• Quality assure and scrutinise referrals.
• To offer challenge where appropriate to ensure high quality information is sent to potential providers to maximise the opportunity to find a well matched placement

  
Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 2 years’ experience within a Placements Officer role or equivalent.
• Excellent customer service skills with proven ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal), in particular when resolving complaints and other matters.
