About the role

Blokhaus is seeking a skilled and experienced Leading Hand to join our team in Christchurch, Canterbury. It would be a permanent/full-time position, this role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a dynamic work environment. You will play a crucial supervisory and hands-on role in ensuring the successful completion of our construction projects.

What you'll be doing

• Supervise and coordinate the work of a team of construction workers, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to high standards
• Provide on-site guidance, training, and support to team members
• Liaise with project managers and clients to ensure project timelines and requirements are met
• Participate in the physical aspects of construction work, setting an example for the team
• Identify and address any issues or challenges that arise during construction, proposing solutions to keep the project on track
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the construction project
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and company policies

What we're looking for

• At least 5 years experience as a construction leading hand or supervisor, preferably in a similar foreperson/supervisors role
• Ability to read blue prints
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to make timely decisions on-site
• Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications
• Flexible and adaptable to the dynamic nature of construction projects
