About the Role:
 
As a Design Lead, you will play a crucial role in managing and leading a team of three designers within our Christchurch office, overseeing the design process from concept to completion for a variety of projects. In addition to leading the team, you will also carry out design work, ensuring hands-on involvement in every project. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to expand your skills in design and team management, with involvement in both residential and commercial projects, medium-density developments, public sector remedial work, house alterations, and restorations.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 

• Team Management: Lead and manage a team of designers, ensuring projects are executed efficiently and on schedule.
• Client Interaction: Meet with clients to gather design requirements for new constructions, alterations, or repairs, and provide detailed drawing packages that satisfy all client and technical requirements.
• Design Preparation: Utilise ArchiCAD to prepare, edit, and revise design drawings, including 3D models, ensuring the highest quality and accuracy.
• Site Evaluation: Evaluate site conditions and constraints, providing expert analysis and recommendations to improve project efficiency and client satisfaction.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with consultants and clients to ensure the accuracy of early design work and participate in team meetings to coordinate design options and ideas.
• Project Execution: Manage BC and RC submissions to the relevant authorities and ensure timely execution of design assignments.
• Continuous Improvement: Provide analysis and recommendations to management to improve our efficiency and customer experience.

 
What Are We Looking For?
 

• Experience: Team leadership, a strong background in design & proficiency in ArchiCAD is essential.
• Collaboration: A collaborative approach to design and teamwork.
• Communication: Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
• Qualifications: A formal architectural qualification.
• Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of NZ construction practices, building codes, and standards.
• Organizational Skills: Great organizational and time management skills.
• The right to work in New Zealand
