Endurance's Abra Mine is located approximately 220km north of Meekatharra, in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia. The underground mine represents one of the world's cleanest and largest lead-silver projects.
Join Our Growing Team
We're seeking an experienced Paste Fill Superintendent to join our dynamic technical team. You will be responsible for leading all paste fill operations (plant and underground). This role ensures the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of paste backfill to mined-out stopes, supporting ground stability and enabling sustainable ore extraction.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Lead, develop and mentor paste fill operators and crews, both paste plant and underground
- Plan and execute paste-filling schedules to meet production requirements while maintaining safety standards
- Develop, maintain and improve systems and processes for the safe and reliable delivery of paste fill to the underground mine
- Monitor daily paste fill operations, including batching, pumping, and delivery to stopes
- Design and procurement of paste infrastructure and paste reticulation network
- Ensure strict adherence to pressure flow models and operating pressures for safe and reliable operation
- Oversee paste quality testing (slump, UCS, binder content) and ensure compliance with specifications
- Coordinate with mining, processing, and maintenance teams to ensure continuous and safe backfilling
- Manage contractor performance and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards
- Maintain accurate records and prepare comprehensive reports on paste volumes, binder usage, and performance metrics
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in paste plant performance, stope fill efficiency, and cost reduction
- Enforce safety systems, promote a strong safety culture, and actively participate in incident investigations
What you'll bring: - Minimum 8 years of mining industry experience with a broad range of underground mining technical and management skills
- Extensive experience in paste backfill systems, paste plant operations, and paste reticulation
- Strong leadership capabilities with proven experience in developing and mentoring technical teams
- Advanced knowledge of paste fill systems and underground mining methods
- Excellent contractor management skills with ability to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards
- Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Deswik) and data analysis tools (Excel, MS Project, Power BI)
- Sound understanding of the WA Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Work Health and Safety Regulations
- Advanced computer literacy and business software knowledge (Microsoft Suite)
- Proven ability to drive continuous improvement and identify cost reduction opportunities
- Strong analytical skills with experience in preparing technical reports and performance metrics
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across all organisational levels
Essential requirements: - WA Underground Supervisor's Certificate (preferred)
- Current 'C' Class Western Australian driver's license
- Demonstrated commitment to safety with ability to promote and enforce safety culture
- Experience in project execution and management practices within underground mining environments
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines
