The Opportunity
Hinchinbrook Shire Council is seeking a flexible and customer-focused Library and Gallery Assistant to join our casual pool. This varied role supports the day-to-day operations of the Library, Gallery and Visitor Information Centre, assisting with programs, exhibitions, events and visitor enquiries. This role plays an important part in delivering engaging services that promote literacy, culture and tourism while ensuring a welcoming and professional experience for community members and visitors.

General Salary Information This position is classified under the
Hinchinbrook Shire Council Local Government Officers (Stream A) Certified Agreement.
Casual rate $47.2146 per hour (inclusive of casual loading) + applicable shifts penalties.

- Assist with day to day administration tasks including basic word processing, such as creating posters/signage, data input, and accessing electronic information;
- Provide customer service and front reception duties through public assistance in person or over the phone;
- Handle small monetary payments and point of cash sales through EFTPOS;
- Assist with basic duties in relief situations for the Liibrary (Including Halifax sub-branch), Gallery, Economic Development and Tourism and Visitor Information Centre within the scope of your level; and
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of events as instructed and under supervision across Council.

Mandatory: - Sound written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
- Demonstrated computer skills, particularly with the Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to learn and adapt to new software systems;
- Ability to follow instructions and work productively both autonomously and in a team environment;
- Ability to work with children and provide/attain a valid Blue Card;
- Responsible Services of Alcohol would be highly desirable;
- Ability to participate in a rotating roster including weekend and after-hours work;
- Must be physically fit to meet the requirements of the position that may include manual handling; and
- Current Queensland ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence (minimum P1).
