About the Role
This role is the operational and technical backbone of CTM’s Tramada data centre infrastructure function. It combines hands-on ownership of current data centre environments with clear accountability to modernise the platform and move towards a cloud-led architecture.
The role will stabilise and optimise existing infrastructure while defining and executing a pragmatic roadmap for on-prem to cloud migration. It also acts as a technical leader across infrastructure, supporting the manager while lifting overall engineering standards and pace of delivery.
About You
Essential
· A diploma or degree in information technology, science or computer science, management or related discipline is preferred but not essential
· 8+ years’ experience in an IT support or systems administration role, with at least 2 years in a team leadership or management capacity
· Practical experience managing physical infrastructure, including servers, networking equipment, and end-user hardware
· Strong decision-making capability
· Ability to manage vendor and managed service provider relationships effectively
· Strong organisational, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across hardware, software, and network environments
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
· Exceptional technical, logical thought process
· Strong hands-on experience managing enterprise infrastructure, including data centres.
· Deep Linux expertise (build, configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning).
· Proven experience with virtualisation platforms (Hyper-V or similar).
· Practical experience with container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
· Strong scripting capability (Python preferred, Bash also valuable).
· Solid understanding of networking concepts (routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs).
· Experience working in DevOps or platform engineering environments.
· Exposure to at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
· Demonstrated experience leading infrastructure or platform modernisation initiatives.
Preferred
· Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or similar).
· Exposure to hybrid cloud and migration programs.
· Experience integrating with monitoring and SIEM platforms.
· Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks.
