Canberra based influencing role in health
The Australian Healthcare and Hospitals Association (AHHA) is the national peak body for public and not-for-profit hospitals, Primary Health Networks, health leaders and other organisations with a shared commitment to a strong public healthcare system. Established in 1946, it has 12 staff.
Your brief is to lead AHHA, working with a committed board, governments, universities and other peak bodies to realise the vision of a healthy Australia. You will also have oversight of the Deeble Institute for Health Policy Research and the Australian Centre for Value-based Health Care.
Your prowess in public affairs and advocacy is predicated on relevant qualifications, strong leadership credentials and a deep understanding of the health arena. This influential role also calls for political nous, sound business acumen and entrepreneurial flair.

Founded in 1946, the AHHA has established a reputation as a respected influencer in the national health conversation, maintaining its vision for an effective, innovative and sustainable health system where all Australians have equitable access to healthcare of the highest standard when and where they need it.
Providing services including health policy research advocacy, consultancy services, and education, the AHHA is an ISO 9001 accredited organisation, and a registered charity. Its research program is supported through its Deeble Institute for Health Policy Research and via its publication of Australia’s premier health research journal, the Australian Health Review. The Australian Centre for Value-Based Health Care, established by the AHHA in 2019, supports its national policy program initiatives.
The opportunity
With the pending retirement of our current Chief Executive, we are seeking an outstanding leader as our next Chief Executive, to guide the organisation at one of the most challenging times for the Australian health sector. Together with our members who are passionately committed to ensuring the best possible health outcomes for all Australians, you will have the opportunity to work closely with governments, universities and health peak bodies across Australia.
Primary purpose of the position
To lead the Australian Healthcare and Hospitals Association, a well-established national health peak body, in its vision to achieve A healthy Australia, supported by the best possible healthcare system.
The role
Reporting through the Board Chair to the Board, the Chief Executive leads a team of 12 employees in this Canberra-based role, providing management oversight across all activities of the organisation.
