Optio6 Talent Partners has partnered with a highly regarded, multi-award-winning Gold Coast law firm to appoint an experienced Senior Family Lawyer.
This is not a rigid, one-size-fits-all position. The firm is open to appointing at Senior Associate, Special Counsel or Partner level, depending on your experience, capability, client relationships and longer-term ambitions.
The firm
Our client is an established, full-service commercial law firm with an outstanding reputation across the Gold Coast and nationally.
The firm combines the resources and quality of a larger practice with the personalised service, accessibility and relationships of a boutique firm. Its lawyers work within a collaborative, collegial environment where people are trusted to perform, supported to develop and recognised for the value they contribute.
You will join a high-performing family law practice from a newly built, contemporary office in a central Gold Coast location, only minutes from the beach.
The opportunity
You will manage a varied portfolio of sophisticated family law matters while contributing to the continued strength and development of the practice.
Depending on your level and aspirations, your responsibilities may include:
- Managing complex property, parenting, children's and divorce matters from initial advice through to resolution
- Advising clients on high-value property settlements, business interests, trusts, companies and complex financial structures
- Drafting court documents, agreements, advices and strategic correspondence
- Appearing in court and representing clients at mediations, conferences and settlement negotiations
- Providing clear, commercially considered and empathetic advice
- Supervising, mentoring and delegating work to junior family lawyers
- Building trusted client and referral relationships
- Contributing to the growth and future direction of the family law practice
For a senior lawyer with an established network, leadership capability or aspirations to build something, the firm is open to discussing what a longer-term pathway could look like (Partner level)
About you You will ideally bring:
- A minimum of five years' post-admission experience in family law
- Strong experience across complex property, parenting, children's and divorce matters
- The ability to manage matters autonomously and exercise sound professional judgement
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, advocacy and communication skills
- The confidence to manage client expectations during sensitive and highly personal matters
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of complex business and financial structures
- The ability to supervise or mentor junior lawyers, where appropriate
- A collaborative approach and genuine commitment to contributing to the wider team
- Strong organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
You may already be operating at Senior Associate, Special Counsel or Partner level, or you may be ready for a firm that will properly recognise your capability and contribution.
