As part of DON’s
Fresh business, we operate two commercial piggeries, including our Bears Lagoon site. We supply key customers across
retail and food service sectors, and we are committed to maintaining
best-in-class animal welfare and farming practices.
About the Role As an
Assistant Site Leader, you will support the
Senior Site Leader in overseeing daily farm operations, ensuring the
health and welfare of livestock, maintaining high safety standards, and improving
production efficiency.
This is a
hands-on leadership role that requires
strong problem-solving skills, teamwork, and a commitment to safety and quality. You will play a key role in
mentoring farm employees, managing site operations, and driving process improvements.
Responsibilities - Support the daily management of piggery operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Assist in the supervision and training of employees, promoting a safe and productive workplace.
- Ensure animal welfare and health standards are met, working with veterinarians and internal teams.
- Oversee feed ordering, inventory management, and operational planning.
- Implement best-practice safety procedures and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain farm cleanliness, equipment upkeep, and production efficiency.

About You You are a
hands-on and motivated farm leader with:
- Experience in piggery operations or livestock management (5+ years preferred).
- Strong leadership and team supervision skills.
- A commitment to animal welfare, safety, and production efficiency.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with APIQ welfare standards (highly regarded).
