The Role
We are seeking an Animal Care Technician to join our team at Bears Lagoon Farm. This is a full-time position of up to 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Working within our breeding, farrowing, or grower operations, you will contribute to the daily care and wellbeing of livestock while supporting the smooth operation of the farm in a safe and productive environment.
Paying rate of $25.74 to $31.64 per hour, depending on relevant skills and experience plus guaranteed overtime with penalty rates, and the opportunity to maximise your earnings
The Purpose of the Role
- Provide daily care and husbandry of livestock.
- Monitor animal health and wellbeing and report concerns.
- Assist with farrowing and the care of newborn animals.
- Feed and water animals in accordance with farm procedures.
- Care for sick or injured animals as directed.
- Clean and maintain animal housing, equipment, and work areas.
- Handle and use chemicals safely in accordance with procedures.
- Operate farm machinery and equipment safely.
- Follow biosecurity and quarantine control requirements.
- Comply with and promote workplace health, safety, and animal welfare standards.
About You
- Experience working with animals or livestock is desirable but not essential.
- Commitment to workplace health, safety, and animal welfare.
- Ability to perform the physical tasks associated with farm work.
- Willingness to work weekends and public holidays when required.
- Ability to follow procedures and work effectively as part of a team.
- Agricultural qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
