A tech-forward boutique law firm in hyper-growth mode in Noe Valley, San Francisco, is seeking an accomplished Operations Director to drive firmwide excellence and innovation. This is a pivotal leadership role for a systems-minded, people-oriented operator who thrives in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
As the firm continues to grow, the Operations Director will ensure that strategy, culture, and execution move in lockstep—building scalable systems, empowering teams, and helping the firm deliver an unparalleled client experience. This role is ideal for a leader who blends analytical rigor with empathy and a genuine passion for organizational health.
The Job Reporting to the Managing Partner, the Operations Director will oversee the firm’s day-to-day business operations and partner closely with leadership to align people, processes, and priorities. You’ll manage cross-functional initiatives spanning operations, HR, technology, finance, and marketing—ensuring the firm runs efficiently while maintaining its distinctive, hospitality-forward culture.

• Oversee day-to-day operations across all departments to ensure alignment with firm goals and values
• Develop and implement SOPs, workflows, and performance metrics to improve efficiency
• Lead firmwide projects such as system rollouts, office expansions, and new service lines
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and accountability across teams
• Identify and integrate technology and AI tools that enhance accuracy and scalability
• Oversee HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, retention, and culture initiatives
• Partner with finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and KPI tracking
• Drive operational excellence through clear communication, collaboration, and change management
• Partner with marketing to align internal communications and firmwide initiatives
• Ensure the firm’s operations support a hospitality-forward, people-first client experience

About You

• 7–10 years of operations leadership experience, ideally in a professional services or law firm environment
• Proven track record managing complex, cross-functional initiatives
• Expertise in business operations, process improvement, and change management
• Strong understanding of HR, financial, and technology systems
• Familiarity with AI tools, automation, and digital transformation best practices
• Exceptional communication, organization, and analytical skills
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred
